Week 53 - Basically we're heroes

Family!!!!

Large Flag that was part of the Baha 1000

Love you to the moon and back.

This week... Wow.

Let's start out with the least exciting to the most exciting.

1. I got sick with another stomach infection. I'm all better now.
2. A bunch of people lie to us all the time. Normal.
3. We heard the cars and saw the helicopters for the BAJA1000
4. My companion got sick and we had to go get tests done on him. They think it might be Typhoid. We'll have the results later today.
5. This is the biggie.....

Well, this Tuesday, or in other words Veterans day supposedly, we ate lunch at the church because the sister that was supposed to give us food got her teeth pulled or something so she just gave us food there at the church. Anyways, as we got home to change our clothes a little bit, we got this random call from this really long number. It ended up being from the US. I answered it in Spanish, as usual, and she asked me, "Do you speak English?" I said.... yes... Then she began to explain. She was the friend of a mom in California who was needing our help. So then the mom called us. She told us that her son had lied to her and told her he was going camping in Cali, but had really gone down to Ensenada by himself. He had then been robbed or something because he didn't have his wallet or his phone or anything. She didn't know all the details, but she knew where he was. She told us that his dad was on his way down to Ensenada right then, but was going to get there after the place where his son was already closed. So, she thought of the missionaries! She asked if we could go down to get him and keep him with us for a little bit until his dad came. We agreed and went down there. When we got there we learned the whole story. 16 year old Devon R. had decided to come down to Ensenada by himself to go off-roading. When he got down here, he realized that he wouldn't have enough money to buy gas for the return trip. So, he decided that he would sell his GPS unit to someone on the street (mistake). He doesn't speak a lick of Spanish so he found a guy that spoke English and the guy told him he had a buddy that might be interested. So Devon followed him for a little while. All of a sudden there were a bunch of guys surrounding Devon with knives. They robbed him, stripped him down, tied him up, gagged him, and put a blindfold on. They then put him in a room of a house. The guy that spoke English then left him there telling him that he would be back when it got dark so that they could go steal the car too. After about a minute of being alone, Devon was able to manage getting himself untied (Later he told us that he and his friends always used to practice that sort of thing). He then looked around and saw a board on the house that didn't look very sturdy, so he took a good run at it and lowered his shoulder. Sure enough he bust through the wall and began to run barefoot and only in his boxers. He ran like crazy until he flagged down a bus that was going by. Nobody spoke English, but the bus driver must of guessed something was wrong from the skinny, naked white boy, with cut up feet standing in front of him. The bus driver gave him some pants to wear and dropped him off at a restaurant. There at the restaurant he asked if there was anyone who spoke English. They told him that there was an American couple that had just left. He ran outside and just barely caught them by a few seconds before they drove off. They helped him to call the cops, get some food, shirt, and some shoes. The cops came and the ambulance too to see his feet (They were super cut up. Really bad). Then they took him to a tourist office where they would find someone who spoke English. From there, the tourist office took care of him. They filed the report, got all of stolen passport information done, and everything else. That was when he called his mom and told her what had happened without details as to what really happened. That's when we showed up. We took him to our house and gave him some food until his dad came to pick him up.

Devon much happier

Moral of the story... Don't lie to your parents. Don't come down to Mexico alone. Don't try and sell a GPS on the street in Mexico. Follow the Spirit.

Everything about that day was guided by God. The fact that the mom of Devon got a hold of the only companionship of 2 white missionaries here in Ensenada was amazing. That we were in the house at that time was amazing. That we didn't have an appointment during those times of the day, that we already had a ride that was going to take us somewhere else that day at that hour that could take us to go pick him up was a miracle. The fact that we're zone leaders and can go to all parts of the zone without troubles was amazing. That fact that the sister had given us so much food that day so that we could share the leftovers with Devon was amazing. God is miraculous.

Then 2 days later we get a call from Devon's dad. He was thanking us. He explained how they got a hold of our number. Devon's mom had called a friend of hers that works in Tijuana. This friend called another non member friend. This non member friend got the number of the missionaries in that area and then those missionaries gave them the number of us here. Pretty ridiculous story all in all.

I know that God put us in the right place at the right time to help out His son. I know that we are guided each day whether we realize it or not. I know that the prayers of parents are answered.

I'm a missionary, I live in Ensenada, MX, I save kidnapped children, and I'm a Mormon.

"Has your child been kidnapped in Ensenada? Ask the missionaries!!! They can help you!"

Love you all!!!! I hope you have a great week!!

Love,

Week 52 - Subjecto

Family!!!!

Love you so much!!!!

Not much to report on this week. We headed out to TJ on Monday night and we went to Pampas which is this great Brazilian steakhouse here. Super expensive, but worth it. 390 pesos later and we were stuffed!!!!!

We stayed there to go to the leadership counsel on Tuesday where we got to learn a lot. Got home like at 7 that night. Loaded myself up with packages and everything. Thanks!!

Then we had a pretty slow week. It's been kinda rough here lately as far as finding new people and everything. The whole zone is struggling.

Anyways, on my one year celebration I had a pretty average day. I cut myself shaving for the first time in my life and was bleeding everywhere, then I broke the blinds in our house, then I ate some candy you sent me mom, Spilled guacamole on my pants, called the police to report domestic violence, and ordered pizza. Basically a normal day. (The domestic violence thing was because we were walking down the street and we heard some bloody murder screams when all of a sudden this lady comes out of her house with blood all over her face bleeding for us to call the cops. It was quite the experience.)

Cut myself shaving!

Broke the blinds!

Ate some candy!

Spilled Guacamole on my pants!

Got some pizza!

Called the police!

Anyways, that pretty much was the week. Don't have too much time today so I'll keep you up to date later with what's going on.

Love you guys!!!

Week 51 - The week before a year

Family Family Family..!!!

Love you guys tons of tons of tons of tons of tons of tons of tons of tons of tons of tons of tons of tons.

This week.....

This week was a little slow for us. We had been banging our heads on the wall trying to figure out what we need to do here. Our area is a little different than other areas. During the week there's hardly anyone outside to contact. So, Elder Sandberg and I have started to work a lot more with the members!

It's actually been going really well. We made up a lesson plan to get all the members excited about sharing the gospel. It's been working. So far we've received many referals. Something that is very rare for this ward. The Lord has been answering prayers and we're seeing small advances.

This week was Halloween. All the missionaries had to be home at 6:00 because it gets a bit dangerous on Halloween. When we told the Elders about the schedule change they all asked, "Well, what are we going to do for all that time at home?" Just goes to show that we never have free time. When we DO have free time, we don't know what to do! Haha.

Anyways, that's basically all that happened this week. We also taught in mission prep last night. We just taught them the lesson of The Gospel of Jesus Christ. It went well.

I hope that you all are doing well! Love you all so much. I know that our Heavenly Father lives and that He loves us. He loves us so much that He has created the whole universe just so that we can be saved and receive exaltation. He wants us to be like Him and have His blessings. If it weren't so, He would cease to be perfect and cease to be God. I know that this church is true. I testify of it as a living representative of The Lord Jesus Christ.

Hope everyone this week can find a way to share the gospel!!

Love,
Elder Morgan

Week 50 - There really isn't a subject

Family!!!

Love you all so much!!!

This week...... Was hard. Lots of walking around and little results seen in our area,

However, the biggest success of this week was in the work of the zone. Last week we challenged the zone to find more new people this week. We had been pretty low in finding. So we really got them pumped up. 2 weeks ago we found 31 people in the whole zone. Really low! This week.... 70! Much better. It just goes to show that when you help someone see the importance of doing something, and then invite them to do it.... they do it!!!! Miracles.

This week we also baptized Cesar!!! He's the kid of an investigator that we have. She can't get baptized right now because she's not legally married, but soon!!!! He's so cool. He decided to be baptized all by himself. He's a stud! This family literally is a family that's been prepared by The Lord. After his baptism, his mom told him, "Cesar, you're the first to be baptized, but soon we all will be members"!!!! They're so awesome. They all have the Gospel Library on their phones! haha.

Finally made it near the ocean
Anyways, that's about it this week. Crazy story of the week. Me and this one Elder were walking along when all of the sudden this guy runs up next to us and begins to explain that he had just forcefully escaped from a rehab center. It was pretty crazy. People were chasing after him, looking for him. In those sorts of situations, I always just make sure to listen really closely to the Spirit to see if I'm in danger. I felt fine. He ended up just walking with us for a little bit and then hoped on a bus. The things you see as a missionary!

Love you all so much. I know that the church is true.

Everybody needs to go online and find a talk given in 1988 by Hyrum W. Smith entitled "Why 1820" or audio (Also called "Restoration of the Church")

There will be no doubt in your mind that the apostasy happened after reading (hearing) this talk!!

Love you!!!!!!!
