Hey there family!
Love you all a ton.
This week was really good. We found some new people and
worked really hard.
The highlight of the week was the baptism of Camilo. He’s
super cool. His wife is already a member, and has been for years. It was probably
the best thing ever to see her at the baptism. I know that she’s been waiting
for this moment a long time! The thing that finally helped him to make this covenant
was him knowing that he could baptize his daughter when he got the Priesthood.
He’s a great great great guy and a fantastic husband and dad! He was so ready
for his baptism! I can’t wait to go to their sealing in a year if I’m invited!
Families can be forever!!
This week I’ve also been thinking about how blessed we are
to live where we do. The situation is rough here. We’ve been teaching a family
that hasn’t had water in their house for over 2 weeks because they can’t afford
the water bill. It’s really tough seeing these situations knowing that at home
we have all the luxuries in the world. It’s also hard to promise them that if
they keep the Sabbath Day holy and go to church instead of work, God will bless
them. I know that He will, but what do you say when someone tells you, “We have
no more money for this week, and we have to eat.” It’s hard, but I know that as
representatives of Christ, we can promise the blessings that He has promised us.
I know that NOTHING can stop God from blessing us.
This week we found a really cool family. We went over there
on Saturday to meet with them, taught them a quick lesson, and then invited
them to church yesterday. They said yes! We passed by in the morning and got a
ride for them. They really enjoyed church and are reading the Book of Mormon.
The mom yesterday told us, it’s so cool that there are 12 apostles in the
earth! I never knew that! That makes so much sense! They’re super cool and have
a baptismal date for this next month.
We’ve really focused this week on baptizing every single
week because that is what The Lord has asked us to do. Before the mission, I
thought that the baptisms weren’t that important, but now I realize that
helping these people enter into this sacred covenant is the only way that we
can help them have the Spirit, and repent of their sins, and be clean of all
sins, and return to live with God. If we’re not baptizing, we’re not
accomplishing our purpose as missionaries. I testify that God loves us and has
provided us with The Gospel to help us return to live with Him. Baptism is
essential to this Gospel. I know that Christ paid the price for our sins, and
that we must take advantage of that Great Atonement by having faith, repenting,
and making and keeping covenants. I know that The Book of Mormon is the Word of
God.
Thank you all so much for the support. The time is flying
by. I felt like I just left, but I’m almost a third of the way through. Please
pray so that time slows down!!!
Love,
Elder Morgan
