Week 19 - Busy, busy, busy

Family I love you all so much.

I have like no time to be able to write this week!  We´re going to have a baptism this week.

I really, really enjoy this new area and my companions.  We´re all getting along well and having a great time working!  I am happy here.  (Note:  both companions are from Mexico and don't speak English)

Everybody remember to always follow the commandments and share the gospel with everybody!!!

I love you all so much.

Love,
Elder Morgan

Responses to some of Mom's questions:

New House:  It's a nice home. Way better. Didn't have a bed, but we have one now!

Members:  Fed very well!  Lots of members. 540 on the ward list, but only like 90 attend church.  Lots of work.  Church building is nice, close to everything (laundry, internet cafe).

I asked what it was like learning a new area... he said, "hard".  :-)

Week 18 - First Transfer

I got transferred. I'm in the Barrio Terrazas (Terrazas Ward) in the Estaca Tijuana México Florido (Tijuana México Florido Stake). Same stake, different ward. I'm training!! Ahhh. Training an Elder Segundo from Michoacán Mexico. We´re also in a trio again! Elder Velasquez has a little more time here in the mission than me, but I'm the senior companion. It's crazy. Out of all the people in the mission me and an Elder named Elder Ivings are the only people who are training directly after our own training! I feel blessed, but also that I have a lot of work to do. Especially because in this ward they're not doing much.

This week Maria's sister did get baptized!!! Her family who are members from San Diego came and it was super spiritual! She also got confirmed. I'll try and send photos when I get them.

This week was good. I don't have much time to write, but the best is that yesterday we went to go say goodbye to our converts. The family Reyes started to cry and said some great things to us that we are the reason for a great change in their lives. I hope to be able to go to their sealing in 1 year in the Tijuana Temple!!! They gave me a card from their son Alonoso that said I am like a brother to him! I love this work!!

Love you all so much!!! Please take care and know that I am working my hardest out here to be a representative of Christ!

Love you all,
Elder Morgan

Week 17 - Lesson learned

Baptism of Maria Angel
Love you all so so so so much!

This email is going to be quick because this week was quick too!

So anyways, this week we had the baptism of an investigator named Maria Angel. It was super cool. She has family members that are LDS and live in the USA. Her mom and sister came too. Her mom is investigating on and off and her Sister will be baptized this week! Woot. The work here is so crazy. I'm pretty tired too! haha.

So, story of the week. I lost my backpack this week with ALL my stuff in it. Yup. I'm figuring about $500 or more of stuff. I also lost my camera and all the photos of the mission and my first agenda here! Boo. Literally not fun.

Oh well. The thing that I have learned this week is that we are all watched over and protected always. I know that being out here in the mission in TJ could be dangerous, but I feel safe always and feel like I have angels watching over me.

I hope that you all are doing so well! Transfers are this next week, so we'll see what's going to happen with those!

Love you all so much.

Week 16 - This week in Mexico

Me getting drenched!!
HELLO FAMILIA!

Love you all so much!

This week was great.

First off we'll start with the spiritual. This week our baptism fell through due to some sad circumstances on the part of the investigator.

This week during church I really took some time to contemplate during the Sacrament. Sometimes I think it gets so routine that we need to take a few minutes to just reflect! I did, and it felt so good. I know that the Sacrament was instituted by Christ so that we can renew covenants, always remember him, and receive the Spirit. If we take the sacrament, we have the promise that we will always have the Spirit. This is so crucial. This day, the Sabbath day should ALWAYS be kept sacred. Our Heavenly Father by way of our Savior, created everything in 6 days and rested the 7th. He sanctified this day for us. I encourage all of you to reflect on the way that you are keeping this commandment and the ways that you can better keep the Sabbath Day Holy.

Okay, cultural item of the week. Here in Mexico some people don't understand what it means to throw things away. I literally saw a man walk out of his house, throw a beer can into the street and walk back into his house. What the.... That's not how it works.

We also got SOAKED this week. It was raining so hard that we couldn't see when we were walking. Plus all the dirt roads turned into mud slides and it was awful, but fun. Our house is literally just a drying station now for all of our wet stuff. We at one point had to stop and we were waiting for the Ark to come by any second.

Elder Portillo and I chilling in the back of a members car.

I love you all family! Keep holding on to that Iron Rod and you will make it to the Eternal Life that is waiting at the end!

Stay safe and keep me up to date.

Love,
Elder Morgan
